Another music recommendation for your kiddos....

The older my boys get, the more I appreciate God's directive to the Israelites in Deuteronomy.....

You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Adam and I are constantly on the lookout for ways to teach our children about God's love and forgiveness and core doctrines throughout Scripture. 
That's why I was super excited to come across a new project by the Gospel Coalition and Songs for Saplings. You can read the entire article and find links here, but the entire set includes 111 songs based on the Westminster Shorter Catechism. 
We downloaded the Fall & Salvation Volume and the boys have been listening to it every night as they fall asleep. I love that they're filling their minds Biblical truths about the gospel each time they listen. It's so fun to hear them singing the words as they go throughout their day. 

Field Trip Fun......

Just like everyone else, our life is pretty busy most weeks. One of the blessings I often take for granted, though, is the fact that our schedule is pretty flexible. That made it possible for Adam and I both to go on our big guys 1st field trip ever! 

We went to a local farm/camp and had a great time! They had tons lined up for the kids to do throughout the day. They barely had time to play on the playground before we headed back to the school! 

 We got to hear a presentation about bees and beekeeping. It was really pretty interesting! I even learned some things I never knew before!

We took two wagon rides. The first, which was pulled by a tractor, was out to a pumpkin patch for the kids to pick a little one to take home.

The day couldn't have been more beautiful! 

The second ride was with two brother horses pulling a creaky wooden wagon. Super fun! 

We came home super tired from 8 hours with 5 & 6 year olds, but it was a good tired!! I'm so thankful for the chance to spend the day with these kiddos and their teachers.

Summer Bucket List......

For some reason this coming summer feels a little different. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think it's because my oldest is heading to Kindergarten in the Fall.
In past years, June-August felt like the other 9 months of the year with warmer (or HOTTER) weather. We'd spend time at the church or playing with toddler toys at home, but never purposely celebrated summer!
I know that our lives will change come September with all that school brings, so I've decided to be purposeful with our summer.
To make it official I've created a Summer Bucket List Pinterest board.


Once we've completed an item, I'll move it over to my DONE!! board!


I've also taken a little time to schedule the activities ahead of time, so I don't have to worry about what to do and when. I'll try to remember to take pictures to share here throughout the summer.

I'm looking forward to cherishing these next few months with my sweet family!!

Watch out Cake Boss.....

A couple weeks ago, my oldest son turned 5! He requested all things Spiderman which of course included a special cake.
With a little help from Pinterest and my elementary ed. creativity, I made my very first character cake!

 Surprise! The inside's red! My little superhero loved that! 

 The cake gave him all the energy he needed to go fight those bad guys in his new suit!! 

I definitely don't see a cake decorating career in my future, BUT it was fun to create something special for a special 5 year old!!
