Friday Feedback (4th of July version).....

Happy 4th of July friends! I'm so excited about a day with family and friends as we celebrate our country's hard-earned independence! 

This may be a little bit of a tangent, but although our country continues to progress in a direction that makes me sad and a little scared at times, I'm so thankful for the undeserved grace God has poured out on our country over the years. I'm also grateful that God's mission of redemption is far greater than the U.S., our president, or even the current generation. He creates beautiful stories of freedom every day regardless of culture or country! 

Anyway....my Friday Feedback question is a little less deep! :) 

What do you have planned for your 4th of July celebration?? 

My answer: 

We're going to have a relaxed morning and then we'll head out our front door for the town parade that goes right down our street. After that we're planning to head over to a friends house for some food and fellowship before fireworks! How much more traditional of a 4th of July celebration can you get?? 

My main goal is to remember to take some pictures of the kiddos! I seem to always forget until it's too late!!

Friday Feedback (finally!)....

It's been forever since I've had a Friday Feedback post! If you're new here, I ask a question that you, my readers, can answer. I love the friends I've met here and I look forward to getting your opinions and advice on a variety of topics. Since the main purpose of my blog is to acknowledge God's working in every area of our lives every day, here is today's Friday Feedback:

In what way(s) have you seen God's blessing in your life in the last week?

Your answer could be super simple or a huge answer to prayer. The point is to share and acknowledge how an Almighty God cares about every aspect of our lives! I'm excited to hear your answers!

My answer: I've been extremely blessed by our church family this week. As we're getting closer and closer to our baby girl's arrival, I've had so many people offer to help me with everything from watching the boys to vacuuming my house once she arrives. With any family help super far away, I'm so thankful for God's provision through our adopted PA family here!

Share a verse that has encouraged you or stood out to you lately!

My answer: 

James 1:22, "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."

I know that I have read this verse many times, and have said, "Amen" in my heart!! I agree - it's not worth anything to just hear the truth. We have to do something about it - put "feet to our faith" so to speak. 

But, if I'm honest, I'd have to say that very often I play the role of the "hearer" in life, and not the "doer". 

Example: I finished Ann Voskamp's book, 1000 Gifts a couple of weeks ago. While reading it, I was challenged to start my own list of blessings (if not to link-up each Monday, at least in a journal or notebook). Have I started yet? No. 

Then last night during our small group we talked about being intentional with our thanksgiving for Him, and I even mentioned Ann's challenge to count 1000 gifts. I was reminding once again that I need to get "doing" not just "hearing". 

We're snowed in today, but as soon as I can, I'm planning on buying a notebook and starting my list! (You can feel free to keep me accountable). 

I want to be a "doer"!!

My answer: 

My husband and I are going to be celebrating Valentine's Day tomorrow. We received a gift card to Outback last Christmas, so we'll be having free steaks to celebrate! He's planning this date, so I'm not sure what else will be involved, but I'm super excited about some quiet couple time with him!! :)

An easy Social Media question for you today....

Which do you enjoy/use more, Facebook or Twitter??

My answer:

Haha! As I wrote the question, I thought, "Uh-oh, I don't know my own answer!" I guess I'd have to go with Facebook. Although Twitter has been great for "quick connections" with online friends, I love keeping in contact with friends/relatives on Facebook. It's such a fun place to share pictures of our children and keep up with one another.

My answer:

One of the areas in my spiritual walk that is a continual struggle is my prayer life. I desire to converse with my Father on a deeper and more regular basis. 

On a very practical level, I need to make a habit out of the time that I spend in prayer. I plan to pick a specific time each day that I fellowship with God, and during that time pray consistently for a deeper desire for Him.

Friday Feedback....

Over the last 6 Christmases, we have enjoyed beginning several holiday traditions as a family. One of our favorites is ornament painting. Sometime during the weeks leading up to Christmas, we set aside an afternoon to paint our ceramic ornaments. We turn up the Christmas music and enjoy our mugs of hot chocolate. Here are some of our creations....

I am so excited to hear from you this week!! We serve a great God, and He is CONSTANTLY doing wonderful things for his children. It's so great to share with one another how He is working!!

What answers to prayer have you seen lately?

I want to know....

What is your favorite way to encourage others OR what is your favorite way to be encouraged?

I enjoy sending cards, notes, e-mails, and even e-cards to encourage others. While it's important to write these for specific things like "Thank you" and "Get Well", I also feel like it's very important to give a reminder that you appreciate them for who they are!! Everyone appreciates an encouraging word or virtual hug! 

I'm asking this question this week, because it's so important to be purposeful in our encouragement of our brothers and sisters! You never know what a kind word may do in a person's life!

I also hope to get some great ideas from you!!
